Windy Iris

Baby and Me is my most recent design commission from Giant Mountain Publishing. I was asked to create six layered illustrations for the different chapters of the cookbook. I worked on the project in stages, starting first with the background panels. The patterns were all drawn up and colored traditionally using markers. Then I worked on the foreground food elements. I chose a soft color palette and kept the shading in the background patterns to a minimum so that the foreground elements would stand out. All illustrations were then brought into the computer and complied to create the layered look. This was a very enjoyable project to work on and I was thrilled to be able to have my work featured alongside delicious recipes and food photographs.
